Maintaining the Shine: Tips for Caring for Commercial Polished Concrete Flooring

One of the most reliable and cost-effective flooring options is Commercial Polished concrete flooring, as it is easy to maintain and doesn't require high maintenance compared to other flooring options. Unlike stone, vinyl, and wood floors, Polished concrete floors do not require cyclical waxing or polishing. They will not wear down with use and are exceptionally scratch-resistant and durable.

Keep your concrete floor looking fabulous

A Commercial polished concrete flooring is a moderate maintenance option, requiring some care and attention to maintain its stunning sheen and color.

Some methods for keeping your polished concrete floor looking great, retaining its gloss, and extending its life

  • Use entrance mats

As with other floor surfaces, ensure you have entrance mats inside and outside your door. This helps to keep dust and filth off your floors.

  • Mop regularly

Every day, dust mop your Commercial polished concrete flooring (maybe more frequently in a commercial setting with high traffic). Doing this will eliminate any dirt or dust particles that could scratch your floor and eventually make it look dull and unpolished. We advise using a microfiber cloth or pad for dust mopping. As a result, the dust particles are suspended and taken off the surface.

In a home environment, wet mop your floors as needed; on a commercial floor, do it at least once a day.

  • Use a pH-neutral soap

Always mop your floors with hot, soapy water. Make sure the soap you use is pH-neutral, and check the label, as there are different pH-neutral soaps available. Avoid detergents containing chlorine, citrus, vinegar, pine, etc. They are acidic, and over time, they will scratch and dull your concrete floor.

  • Use clean water and a clean mop

Always use hot water and a clean mop. Rinse your mop well and change the water periodically. To prevent streak markings on your floor, we advise drying the floor as you proceed with a fresh white cloth. The pH-neutral soap suspends the dirt particles in your mop, so it's essential to rinse with clean water often. Otherwise, you're simply dragging dirt about your floor, removing the shine.

  • Clean up spills

A Commercial polished concrete flooring has increased durability because the concrete pores gradually close throughout polishing. The more pores are closed, the higher the gloss, which helps keep spills from soaking into the floor. But you should clean up spills as soon as you can.

. You'll need to react even faster when it comes to acidic spills like wine or citric acid.
